The Veterans Film Festival organisation and friends were delighted to be invited to Admiralty House in Kirribilli as guests of Their Excellencies, General the Honourable David Hurley AC DCS (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, to celebrate our ongoing commitment to showcasing Veteran stories on screen and the Screen Warriors program, with guests enjoying a glorious summer late afternoon on the harbour.
The Governor-General and Mrs Hurley are proud to be joint Patrons of the Veterans Film Festival and warmly welcomed some of the people who make the Festival possible, to a celebration at Admiralty House, recently. Supporters of the festival organisation were welcomed by the Their Excellencies and joined a spontaneous choral anthem with Mrs Hurley after being welcomed with these words from the Governor-General:
Among those attending were members of the screen and veteran communities, including director Bruce Beresford and his wife Virginia Duigan, Susan Danta and Tom Roache from Ausfilm, Nell Greenwood, CEO of the national film school, AFTRS as well as Rear Admiral Chris Smith, Major General David Thomae and president of the NSW RSL, Ray James. Leaders from PWC, AFTRS, Apple, Spectrum Films and other supporter organisations who help keep the festival afloat.
The VFF Board members included Alison Creagh, Glen Ferrarotto, Justin Boylson, Brooke Sporer, Dr Marty Murphy and Jonathan Hyde, alongside CEO and board chair Warwick Young and staff Annie Parnell and James Carr.
These wonderful friends and supporters make it possible to carry out our mission and we were pleased to be able to thank them in such a wonderful way through the generosity and hospitality of the Governor General and Mrs Hurley.
